LUNGevity Foundation is firmly committed to making an immediate impact on increasing quality of life and survivorship of those affected lung cancer by accelerating research into early detection and more effective treatments, as well as by providing community, support, and education for all those affected by the disease.
The Foundation has three goals 1) Accelerate research to patients 2) Empower patients to be active participants in their treatment decisions and 3) Remove barriers that patients encounter in accessing the right treatments. LUNGevity is the only lung cancer non-profit with a long-term, strategic focus on the early detection and diagnosis of lung cancer. The Foundation also has a robust Translational Research program as well as active initiatives around making clinical trials more patient-centric, and increasing access to biomarker testing.
LUNGevity also provides patients
and caregivers with education and services to empower them to be active
participants in their own lung cancer journey and helps to facilitate a
community of survivors. Providing in-person support and survivorship
conferences - HOPE Summits - both regionally (Chicago, Dallas, Columbus in
2017) and at a National Conference in Washington, DC is a major cornerstone of
this model. The Foundation has extensive experience in developing peer-to-peer
services for patients and caregivers; including LifeLine (matched by
gender, age, and histology), Immunotherapy Ambassadors (for those
considering an immunotherapy treatment) and Clinical Trial Ambassadors
(for those considering enrolling in clinical trials). Oncology social workers
are also available, in partnership with CancerCare ®, and a customizable app,
the Lung Cancer Navigator Mobile app, allows patients and caregivers to obtain
information instantly.
