7th Biennial International Symposium on AMD
Boston Marriott Cambridge
Join us in Boston for the 7th Biennial International Symposium on AMD on Friday and Saturday, October 24-25, 2025 to discover the latest innovations in research, detection, pharmacologic therapies, and surgical options in a dynamic and engaging format.

One of the field's most highly praised and popular events, the Symposium is known for its in-depth and thoughtful discussions of the pathogenesis of AMD. International experts in a broad array of topics as well as leaders in related disciplines outside ophthalmology are being invited to participate. Subjects that will be covered include parainflammation, ECM and drusen, the intersection of epidemiology and multiomics, pathogenesis of the disease, novel therapeutic approaches, and imaging and AI. Each session will be led by a moderator with expertise in the topic and will consist of two or three 20-minute talks, including five minutes of questions followed by an extended panel discussion.

The goal of the meeting is to highlight the latest innovations in AMD disease research. The Symposium will bring together thought leaders in AMD to share their ideas, spark new collaborations, and provide networking opportunities. This conference is directed toward retina specialists, ophthalmologists, optometrists, researchers, and trainees. The unique format allows for active audience interaction and a free exchange of ideas to fuel innovation. We'll see you there!

POSTER SESSION – ELIGIBILITY & EXPECTATIONS

The Trainee Poster Session will take place during the Friday evening networking reception October 24, 2025 from 5:30–7:00 PM. This is a chance to explore emerging AMD research from labs across the country and engage directly with rising scientists.

Eligibility

To participate, the presenting author must:

-          Be a current resident, research fellow, clinical fellow, or student working in the field of AMD.

-          Present original, unpublished work (and keep it unpublished through October 25, 2025).

-          Attend the full symposium (October 24–25, 2025).

-          Be present at their poster for the entire reception (5:30–7:00 PM).

Expectations

Presenting authors are expected to:

-          Acknowledge any off-label or unapproved uses of drugs or devices per FDA guidelines.

Disclosures

All presenting authors must disclose any commercial relationships (from the past 24 months) or potential conflicts of interest directly on the poster. A commercial interest is any entity producing, marketing, re-selling, or distributing healthcare goods or services consumed by or used on patients. If no relationships exist, state “None.”

POSTER SESSION – DESIGN & PRINTING

For the Trainee Poster Session, we will be using easels, not traditional poster boards. Posters must be mounted on firm backing (foam core) and displayed in landscape format, sized 36 in wide x 24 in tall (91 x 61 cm). We recommend setting your poster size before you begin designing:

PowerPoint users: Go to the “Design” tab → “Slide Size” → “Custom Slide Size” → Enter 36” (width) x 24” (height).

Design Guidelines

-          Keep content clear and concise (max 600 words).

-          Use minimum 28-point font for legibility at 3 feet.

-          Use large print and shade or color block letters, when possible.

-          Leave at least 0.5 in (1.27 cm) margins.

-          Structure your content using standard headings used in the abstract (Purpose, Methods, Results, Conclusion).

-          Do not include industry logos or product branding.

-          Add your email address to help others follow up after the meeting.

Printing Options

We are offering free poster printing and delivery to the Boston Marriott Cambridge for trainees who submit their final artwork (PDF format) by Sunday, October 5, 2025. Alternatively, trainees can choose to print and mount their own posters (which can can cost $75-$100 per poster).

Free Printing Requirements:

-          Email your file by Sunday, October 5, 2025 to Ophthalmology_Events@meei.harvard.edu

-          On the day of the session, report to the registration table by 5:20 PM for setup instructions.

Self-Print Requirements:
