Arizona Canal Walk - 10-11 Miles
Hike 4 of 4 in the Are You Ready Series
March 31, 2025 - April 01, 2025  ·  Granada Park (Phoenix) OR Olive & Ivy (Scottsdale)
6:30 AM - 11:00 AM (MT)
This is the last in the series of four walks intended to help pilgrims dial in their gear. The terrain on the canal simulates the Meseta - flat and no shade but a nice place for conversation.

Meeting Options (please indicate when registering):
EAST: Olive & Ivy in Scottsdale (7135 E Camelback Rd #195) .

WEST: CANCELLED due to hike leader injury

Total distance: 9-11 miles easy (no shade)

Elevation gain: Minimal

Easy training hike along the Arizona Canal starting at Olive & Ivy (consider parking in the covered Nordstroms lot) and stopping for 2nd Breakfast at Little O's.

Time: 4-5 hours due to distance & stop at Little O's Arcadia Market

This is a great opportunity to gauge your preparations for the Camino this spring or simply enjoy the company of fellow pilgrims. Wear your pack and favorite gear on this leisurely walk to Arcadia area of Phoenix. We will stop at the charming Little O's Market for a snack, cafe con leche and restroom break then return to the start location.

All participants will start at East Side in front of Olive & Ivy.
NOTE: If we are blessed with cool weather or clouds, we may begin the walk 30-60 min later and notify registrants the day prior.

Guidelines

Please stay home if you are feeling sick.

Call or text your hike leader if you are running late or unable to make it:

Olive & Ivy - Valerie @ 602.770.1842  OR Tina @ 602.722.0612

if you are unable to make it or are running late.

No dogs allowed due to chapter liability.

We will share the trail with other hikers and mountain bikers so despite our engaging conversations we will be aware of our surroundings and courteous by stepping off the trail or walking single file when necessary.

Reminders: Our chapter activities are led by volunteers. Donativo contributions (cash only) are greatly appreciated and are used to support future activities. Look for the orange donativo jar by the signup at the beginning of each hike.

We always gather in the spirit of the Camino; therefore the hike leader will maintain awareness of the pace of the group, and will stop periodically at trail intersections to allow all participants to catch up. Hikers/walkers are differently abled and will not finish at the same time. There will be a sweep for larger groups and no hiker will be abandoned. Please review the trail description before signing up to be sure the hike is right for you and your abilities.
