Arizona Canal Walk - 10.3 miles
Hike 4 of 4 in the Are You Ready Series
March 23, 2026  ·  Granada Park (Phoenix)
6:30 AM - 12:00 PM (MT)
This is the last in the series of four walks intended to help pilgrims dial in their gear. The terrain on the canal simulates the Meseta - flat and no shade but easy to walk on, and a nice place for conversation.

Starting Location: Granada Park in Phoenix (Biltmore area)
Starting Time: 6:30 AM
Total distance: 10.3 miles easy (no shade)

Elevation gain: None

Easy training hike along the Arizona Canal, starting at Granada Park and stopping for 2nd Breakfast at the midway point: AJ's on Camelback and 44th Street.
We will walk to Arcadia Dr, turn left (N) on it, turn left On Exeter Blvd, follow it to 45th St and Camelback, cross Camelback to AJ's.
For the return we will briefly follow 44th St back to the Canal, turn right and follow it back to Granada Park.

Time: 4-5 hours due to distance & 2nd Breakfast stop

This is a great opportunity to gauge your preparations for the Camino this spring or simply enjoy the company of fellow pilgrims. Wear your pack and favorite gear on this leisurely walk through the Arcadia area of Phoenix. We will stop at the Bread and Honey House for a snack, cafe con leche and restroom break, then return to the start location in Granada Park.

NOTE: If we are blessed with cool weather or clouds, we may begin the walk 30-60 min later and notify registrants the day prior.
