Dreamy Draw 5 miles &/or Shell Ceremony
Morning walk @ 6:30 with Potluck 2nd Breakfast @ 9 & Shell Ceremony
April 26, 2025  ·  Dreamy Draw Trailhead under a Ramada
6:30 AM - 10:30 AM (MT)
The morning will begin at (6:30) with an easy 5 mile walk followed by a potluck 2nd breakfast (9:00AM) and a moving Shell Ceremony (9:30AM) for all of us to bless departing pilgrims. Every one is welcome to register for the walk and shell ceremony or just the shell ceremony.

Walk - A portion of every Camino includes walking on pavement so this walk will begin along the Dreamy Draw Bike Path.  We will start at the Ramadas and walk North until it ends at 32nd Street. We will then turn around until it ends at the 51 and go under the 51 and up a pedestrian path (like outside of Astorga on the Camino Frances). We will connect with a trail to take us back to the Ramadas in time for 2nd breakfast and the shell ceremony.

If you decide to bring your poles on this stroll, you will have an opportunity to practice pole etiquette and definitely use
tips for your poles to muffle the sound of your pole on the payment.

Shell Ceremony - Join us to celebrate Spring pilgrims and send them off with a special blessing that has been used through the ages. Bring a dish to share if you are able at 9AM and we will start the Shell Ceremony at about 9:30 where a blessing will be bestowed on all outgoing pilgrims as part of an ancient tradition and of support for your journey. Read more about it under the More Information Tab.

What is a Shell Ceremony?
During the Middle Ages pilgrims were blessed before setting off on their journey so they may seek truth, abandon old habits, and open themselves to new experiences. Following in this ancient tradition, the Valley of the Sun Chapter is pleased to confer a group blessing and token upon those who will be walking the Camino this year.

Bring a dish to share and help send off pilgrims with encouragement.

The Valley of the Sun Chapter has only two more 2024 Shell Ceremonies scheduled for April and July  to accommodate pilgrims leaving later throughout the year.

About Your Hike Leader
About Your Hike Leader

Tina completed the Camino Frances from St Jean Pied de Port in Spring of 2018. She used Camino Ways to handle logistics and baggage transfers and stayed in hotels. She also walked to Burgos, then biked to Astorga (the Meseta) before walking on to Santiago. She is currently one of the coordinators for the chapter. It was only after hanging around the amazing pilgrims in the chapter that she was inspired to do another one. She is planning on walking 100km along the Camino Frances with her 80 year old mom and also biking the Way of St Frances - from Florence to Assisi - this spring.
