We are happy to announce the 2025 Distinguished Service Award to Eric Ooms

Eric Ooms has been a steadfast advocate for New York agriculture through
his 16 years of service as Vice President of the New York Farm Bureau and as a
leader on the Young Farmers Committee. A dairy farmer from Kinderhook, Eric
co-manages A. Ooms & Sons Dairy Farm with his family, blending tradition
and innovation on their 500-cow, 2,000-acre operation.
A champion for smart agricultural policy, Eric played a pivotal role in
statewide legislative wins, including efforts to expand right-to-farm
protections. His work with NYFB and the Hudson Valley AgriBusiness Development

mentoring the next generation of farmers exemplifies the spirit of this award.

2025 James Quinn Award
Kevin Bittner
Kevin Bittner has served Farm Bureau in many ways during 2025. As President of the Niagara County Farm Bureau, he guided the board through challenging situations and supported key legislative initiatives. He was part of the New York Farm Bureau Policy Book Revision Committee and served as a resource for members navigating the process. Kevin also served on the Western New York Regional Committee.
One of Niagara County Farm Bureau’s main fundraisers is selling roasted corn, and Kevin completely revamped the county’s corn-roasting machine. He transported it to numerous community events—including the County Fair, Barker Corn Fest, and the assemblyman’s annual picnic—promoting Farm Bureau, showcasing local produce, and raising funds.
Beyond county activities, Kevin continues to support and promote agriculture across the region. He served on the planning committee and was Master of Ceremonies for the Niagara County Ag Forum, bringing presenters and vendors together for discussions and learning opportunities. Designed for beginning farmers, the event drew more than 100 participants. He also served as the agricultural representative on additional community committees.
