This hybrid focus group is part of the European Commission (DG AGRI)–commissioned study “Food affordability in the European Union, including the contribution of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).” It brings together EU institutions, national authorities, economic operators, civil society organisations, and international organisations to discuss how different measures supporting food affordability interact across the EU-27.
The discussion will focus on the interplay, coherence, gaps, and overlaps between public policies (EU, national, and local) and non-public initiatives (private sector and civil society). Participants will reflect on preliminary study findings and share practical experiences related to governance coordination, policy alignment, and the effectiveness of food affordability measures, including their contribution to making healthy diets more affordable.
The focus group will be held in a hybrid format, hosted in Brussels with the option to participate online via MS Teams. To facilitate participation, two identical half-day sessions will be organised (morning and afternoon), each covering the same objectives, questions, and thematic sections. Participants are invited to attend one session of their choice. All contributions will be treated confidentially and analysed in aggregate for research purposes.
