ABOUT THIS WALK:  The original pilgrims didn't have the luxury of flying into Spain to pick up
the Camino de Santiago from their chosen point. The starting point for many was the doorstep
of their own home. In this tradition, we will begin our stroll from the home of our hike leader,
Charlotte.

As with all our Intro to the Camino strolls, the Camino de Santiago is the topic of conversation.
The conversation will continue at Charlotte's home over coffee and croissants (2nd breakfast)
and again as she demonstrates how & what she has packed for her many Caminos.

We will meet at Charlotte's home and walk 3.1miles/5K round trip starting from her doorway.
The walk will be easy and level on the city pavement and local trails.

A portion of every Camino includes walking through towns on pavement.  If you decide to bring
your poles on this stroll, you will have an opportunity to practice pole etiquette and decide if
you want tips for your poles to muffle the sound of your pole on the payment.
As this event will be limited to 20 pilgrims, we are requesting only pilgrims making a 2026
Camino sign up initially.

About Your Hike Leader

Charlotte (right in photo) is an experienced pilgrim! She has walked the Camino Frances, the Portuguese, the Norte, the Via de Plata and most recently the Camino Madrid.  A highlight of her many pilgrimages was when her daughter joined her in 2024 to walk into Santiago. She was a former Spanish teacher and a member of the Valley of the Sun Chapter's Core Team. She generously shares her knowledge of various Caminos, opens her home to host events for the Chapter and will be teaching a Spanish for the Camino class in March.
