Easy social walk along Arizona Canal.
Date: Wednesday, January 1 meet @ 8:45AM / stroll begins at 9AM
Total distance: 3 miles easy
Time: ~ 2 hour leisurely pace walking and coffee
Hike leader: Kath Stoll @ 602.616.9467
ABOUT THIS WALK: While the Camino de Santiago is generally the topic of conversation on all our hikes, this stroll is specifically targeted to those who are still trying to learn about the Camino and decide if they can/want to do it. This is the perfect opportunity for pilgrims to keep the Camino spirit alive by sharing their experience with the Camino curious.
We will walk 1.7 miles/2.7K, level and easy via the Arizona Canal Trail starting at Granada Park walking to the Arizona Biltmore Resort. We will stop for coffee at the Biltmore, sitting outside so dress accordingly. After coffee and chat we will walk the same 1.7M/2.7K returning to our vehicles. In addition to coffee, the Biltmore has elegant and festive New Years decorations, restrooms, drinking water, and limited foods
available.
Look for the Camino flag in the parking lot for the meeting place. If running late day of hike, call your hike leader: Kath Stoll @ 602.616.9467
Kath co-founded this new version of the Valley of the Sun Chapter and breathed new life into the organization. She also served on a national committee for the American Pilgrims on the Camino Annual Gathering. She walked the Camino Ingles in 2018. If your plans change for attending this stroll, please call or text Kath @ 602.616.9467.

We will share the trail with other hikers and mountain bikers so despite our engaging conversations we will be aware of our surroundings and courteous by stepping off the trail or walking single file when necessary.

We always gather in the spirit of the Camino; therefore the hike leader will maintain awareness of the pace of the group, and will stop periodically at trail intersections to allow all participants to catch up. Hikers/walkers are differently abled and will not finish at the same time. There will be a sweep for larger groups and no hiker will be abandoned. Please review the trail description before signing up to be sure the hike is right for you and your abilities.
