Insight Net Annual Meeting 2025
May 6 - 8, 2025  ·  Cleone Peterson Eccles Alumni House

The annual Insight Net meeting is intended to bring together the network’s centers to highlight their work, facilitate discussion, and create connections across centers, as well as with key external partners.

Sessions open to all attendees will begin the morning of May 6th and conclude mid-day of May 8th. On the afternoon of May 8th, there will be a meeting with leadership investigators and External Guidance Group and an optional workshop hosted by CSTE for modelers and academics interested in learning more about public health. Insight Net members at all career stages and partners are invited to attend.

Travel Sponsorship Information
Limited funding is available to sponsor travel for a group of attendees. We asked each center to nominate individuals to receive travel sponsorship. Sponsorship will be granted to the top 2 nominees of the center’s choice, and each center can nominate no more than 3 additional individuals for consideration of remaining sponsorships. Nominees for travel sponsorship should be individuals who do not have funding to attend the meeting and would have a strong contribution to or benefit from attending the meeting in person. For sponsorships granted to nominees beyond each center's top 2 choices, priority will be given to individuals from public health agencies and STLTs. We aim to accept individuals with a focus on having a good mix of background, research area, geography, and experience.

Poster Information
The deadline to submit abstracts for posters at the May 7th poster session has passed. Centers should have received notice of approved posters. Posters must fit on a 3' x 4' board, but we otherwise have no requirements regarding size, layout, or design. If you are interested in printing locally, the University of Utah has printing services on campus and local FedEx locations. However, please plan to be responsible for picking up your poster.

Utah Transit Authority (UTA): Bus and Rail

UTA runs bus and TRAX (rail) lines near the University, both require payment to ride. To plan your transportation, using Google Maps is highly recommended, or you can use the Rider Tools and Schedules Map available on UTA's website:https://www.rideuta.com/Rider-Tools/Schedules-and-Maps

UTA buses do have several routes that stop at the Union & Warnock Buildings (close to the Alumni House), and you can take them to explore Salt Lake City or for travel after campus shuttles stop at 6:00pm.

The UTA TRAX Red line runs through the University and connects to downtown. In downtown, the TRAX Red line connects to the Green line for service to Salt Lake International Airport (SLC). The closest TRAX station to University Guest House is Fort Douglas Station. The closest TRAX station to Marriott University Park is South Campus station.

A map of UTA TRAX and bus stops close to meeting locations are shown in the map below. TRAX stations, which connect campus to downtown, are shown in dark blue. Bus stations, which can be used for evening travel throughout campus and travel to downtown, are shown in light blue. There is a free fare zone within downtown, where there is no cost to ride if you enter and exit within the zone.

University Free Shuttle

The University of Utah has free shuttles that provide service throughout the campus from 6:00am to 6:00pm, no payment is required for visitors and the university community. The Union building stop is the closest to the meeting venue. See directions below for routes to the Alumni House from both hotels, where most attendees are staying. Live tracking of shuttles and route maps can be found on the TransLoc app or the University's website: https://uofubus.com/routes.

From Marriott University Park:

  • Walk 5-minutes South West to the Ortho stop on Wakara Way and board the Grey Sunnyside bus route. Exit at the Guest House bus stop and board the Red or Green Circulator routes (Red is faster), exiting at the Union building stop. The Alumni House is across the street to the North East.
  • Alternatively, you can walk 10-minutes North East to the Chipeta stop on Chipeta Way and board the Green Circulator route directly, exiting at the Union building stop. The Alumni House is across the street to the North East.

From University Guest House:

  • The Chapel Glen stop is slightly further on Fort Douglas Blvd, where you can board the Orange and Blue routes, in addition to the Red and Green Circulator routes. You can take all four routes to the Union building, with the Red, Orange and Blue routes being the faster options. Once you exit at the Union building stop, the Alumni House is across the street to the North East.

Driving & Parking

If you will be driving to the meeting each day, there is free parking available for meeting attendees in Alumni Lot 30, located just North of Alumni House. You will not need a pass or to display anything to park here for free. However, parking in any lots other than Alumni Lot 30 could result in your car being ticketed or towed. Please note the parking lot in front of Union building is a paid visitor lot and will require payment, regardless of whether you are attending the meeting.

There is construction ongoing on campus that may impact routes to Alumni House, with a portion of 100 S and North Campus Dr closed for construction.
