In addition to an amazing tour of Kyoto, your guide will give you an orientation of the area nearby the hotel and equip you with the confidence to strike out on your own search for Kyoto gems in your leisure time.
The first stop will be Teramachi and Nishiki Market. Located on a long, narrow, five block street, Nishiki Market, also known as “Kyoto’s Kitchen,” is renowned as the place to obtain many of Kyoto's famous foods and goods. It is also an excellent place to find an array of souvenirs. Keep your eyes open for the hidden theatres, temples and shrines that remind you you’re in Kyoto – your guide will point these out and talk about them. One of your stops will be Rokkaku-dō Temple, which is identifiable by its hexagonal shape, and the fact that it is the home of the Ikenobo family known for their creation of ikebana flower arrangements.
