The Japanese tea ceremony is a centuries-old tradition and is a way of enjoying tea, admiring the exquisite utensils, and enjoying each others’ company for a moment or two. Kimonos are typically worn during this ceremony, so you will be fully immersed in the activity by dressing in one. You will learn the basics of kimono-wearing, then undergo the actual process of dressing, under the supervision of an expert, to experience wearing a kimono. A selection of beautiful kimonos will be available for you to try on for your unique Japanese experience. There is a perception outside Japan that kimonos are only for ladies, but that is not the case, with the word originally meaning ‘something you wear’ and covering the clothing of men, women and children.
