Ryan Lafferty graduated in 2004 from Curtin University of Technology with a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering. He started his career in Australia with Woodside Energy and has since worked for various operating companies such as Lundin Petroleum, Shell and Total. He has worked in Australia, Libya, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Kazakhstan and Thailand and has 15 years experience as a Petrophysicist/Petroleum Engineer.
Ryan was previously Consulting Petrophysicist for Medco Energi Thailand, where he was responsible for all Petrophysical aspects of the Bualuang Phase 4B in-fill drilling campaign including formation evaluation design, operational support and quick-look evaluation. He also provided technical support and assurance to regional non-operated and operated assets in Vietnam and Indonesia.
He is an active member of SPWLA and currently serves as the Sponsorship Director for the SPWLA Bangkok Chapter. He has previously served as Technology Coordinator for FESM (Kuala Lumpur) from 2011 to 2013. He is currently studying an MSc in Energy at Herriott-Watt University.
