Dr. Nielsen is a seasoned executive with accomplishments in building organizations, attracting and motivating staff, strategic planning, changing organizations’ cultures, and forming joint ventures. Organizations he has revitalized include the Otological Research Lab at Henry Ford Hospital, the House Ear Institute, and the Central Institute for the Deaf. These successes included establishing a robust financial base, growing financial assets, building new facilities, improving research quality, and forming strategic alliances. He has also served as an officer and board member to use his skills and personal attributes to establish, reorganize, and strengthen professional organizations, including the Association for Research in Otolaryngology, the Society of Research Administrators, and the Association of Independent Research Institutes. Don is also Fuel’s University Advisor and has been Director of the Audiology Clinic at Northwestern University, Professor, and Chair of the Speech and Hearing Department at Washington University Saint Louis.
