Beth still remembers those heart-pounding moments during her first-grade reading group when she stumbled through Dick and Jane, and Spot day after day. As a visual learner and someone who likely had a bit of dyslexia, working with words did not come easily—reading or writing. Decades later, she watched her own daughter face similar challenges. Out of these life experiences grew the foundation for what has become her life’s work. Over the past three decades, Beth has developed, refined, and researched two innovative, evidence- based approaches to teaching writing and enhancing literacy that have been proven effective for a wide range of learners. Beth has trained over 12,000 teachers across the U.S. and Canada. She has written numerous books and articles as well as produced a wide range of instructional materials, both in print and on video.
