Bonnie taught Math and English in rural Botswana at the Mahalape Community Junior Secondary School (grades 7–9). She has worked with elementary and secondary teachers in California, Maine, and beyond. Since 2000, she has taught Education Studies at College of the Atlantic, where she teaches pre-service teachers courses on Experiential Education and Curriculum and Assessment, among other subjects. She is currently working on a book project with COA student-authors on their experiences as low-income, first-generation, and BIPOC college students. Mindfulness practices and place-based exploration are a core strategy in her teaching to connect students and teachers with their physical, natural, and social communities.
