Training Objectives:
Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Understand the role of the facility level IP and gain knowledge to add value to infection control policies and procedures addressing ASP, environmental disinfection, outbreak management, hand hygiene, barrier precautions, and indoor air quality.
- Be able to describe to staff the “why” behind hand hygiene compliance and enhanced barrier precautions to minimize the risk of exposure to multidrug-resistant organisms.
- Differentiate situations that support the use of Contact Precautions, Enhanced Barrier Precautions or Standard Precautions.
- Recognize the role of antibiotic stewardship in the emergence of multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs) and promote appropriate antibiotic use among healthcare providers in your facility.
- Implement 2 evidence-based environmental disinfection protocols to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
- Adopt 3 new skills for outbreak management, including surveillance, investigation tools, and control measures.
- Gain introductory knowledge of indoor air quality monitoring and a healthcare facility’s Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) System.
