The Living with Water workshop is a two-day event that brings together community leaders, researchers, Indigenous knowledge holders, and practitioners to explore how we (re)define success in coastal adaptation. By challenging dominant narratives and centering place-based and inclusive approaches, the workshop creates space for unlearning, relearning, and reframing adaptation beyond risk management. Through dialogue, creativity, and collaboration, we aim to foster capacity for meaningful, community-driven change.

This workshop is part of Living with Water, a multi-year, collaborative research initiative focused on advancing just and climate-resilient futures across British Columbia’s South Coast. The initiative works across academic, community, and governmental partnerships to support transformative approaches to flood management that are deeply rooted in values, relationships, and place-based knowledge.
