  • Dr. Pfund will present the most up-to-date evidence on the treatment of gambling disorder, and will summarize the existing evidence for both pharmacological and psychological treatment for gambling disorder and identify the specific psychological treatment methods for reducing gambling behavior and gambling disorder symptoms.


Nassim Tabri, PhD

  • Dr. Tabri will examine financially focused self-concept in gambling, a psychological factor in which self-definition and self-worth are closely tied to financial success. He will explore how a financially focused self-concept contributes to gambling problems, and how it may inform more targeted and effective treatment approaches.


Lia Nower, JD, PhD

  • Dr. Nower will provide an overview of new gambling activities (e.g., sweepstakes, trading, video game mechanics), including considerations for identification, treatment, and prevention as well as implications for policy and regulation.


Nick McAfee, PhD

  • Dr. McAfee will present findings from research with college students across the state of Mississippi as well as those referred for alcohol and drug-related violations at the University of Mississippi, focusing on the intersection of sports gambling, alcohol use, and mental health among young adults.
