6:00PM - This is an in person event at Arizona Hiking Shack. NOW OPEN TO ALL! But an essential opportunity for pilgrims planning on walking at least 500KM in 2025 or 2026.
When you decide to walk for more than 30 days over unknown terrain and through a variety of elements, it can be overwhelming thinking about all the unknowns and what ifs.
This comprehensive course covers the physical (and mental) aspects of hiking long-distance through multiple environments over extended time like on the Camino Frances from SJPdP, the Camino Norte, the Primitivo, Le Puy, etc. Jon will share demos, gear examples, and proven tips & tricks every pilgrim should have in their toolbox. Attendees will learn:
Jon Mincks from Arizona Hiking Shack is a Wilderness First Responder, a Wilderness Skills & Safety Instructor and Fieldcraft Specialist with more than 20 years teaching experience. He was the expert that one of our chapter members went to for guidance after coming back from the Camino (see More Details). While the Camino isn't in the wilderness, Jon designed this course after hearing Joe's plight and conferring with other Camino specialists to ensure that local pilgrims are prepared for SURVIVING SANTIAGO - HIKING THE CAMINO SAFELY.
In an effort to reduce no shows, there is a $10 registration fee for this class. The fees will be collected and used as door prizes awarded to lucky attendees. Come early to look around the Arizona Hiking Shack as the Shack will close during class.
