The increasing pace of innovation throughout the aviation industry, and the great potential it holds, has a direct impact on training activities worldwide. This year, the Course Developer and Instructor Standardization Meeting (ICAO CDI/STD), delivered under the umbrella of the TRAINAIR PLUS Programme, is focusing on inspiring and educating the aviation community on the possibilities that innovation presents in an aviation training context.
The ICAO CDI/STD meeting will explore innovations that are modifying the way we develop and deliver training. The speakers and participants will explore how to move beyond conventional classroom training, integrate new strategies, new technologies, and develop an “innovation mindset”.
The event will provide an opportunity for course developers, instructors, and other aviation stakeholders to address the following challenges:
The participants will take away new knowledge about the latest technologies, and innovations in training, and an appreciation of how these changes can impact the way they design, develop and deliver courses, advancing the aviation field as a whole.
The ICAO CDI/STD meeting is an excellent platform for aviation training organisations to collaborate and define training solutions for challenges in aviation. New partnerships and dialogue will strengthen the aviation training community, and enhance the courses being delivered to new aviation professionals.
On behalf of Middle East Airlines - Air Liban, and its Chairman and Director General Mr. Mohamad El-Hout, I welcome you to the ICAO Course Developer and Instructor Standardization Meeting (ICAO CDI/STD). We are extremely pleased to host this year’s event at MEA’s new Training & Conference Center, located in Beirut, Lebanon.
The theme of this year’s event - Innovations in Training - is very relevant to all training organizations and particularly to MEA as it embarks on a number of innovative training projects, including the launch of its new Training Center last year, the use of innovative technologies throughout the lifecycle of training design and delivery, and through innovations in training processes.
The scope of innovation cannot be limited to changes we introduce to training products/courses, it must also embrace all aspects of training, such as enhancements to training processes, training facilities, human resources, and other training aspects. Therefore, I encourage all participants to come prepared to collaborate on this topic, and to engage the different ways we can use innovation to improve training effectiveness.
Dr. Nazareth Nicolian
